Ladies and gentlemen, these men are your brothers, sons, friends. Why don’t you make it your responsibility to check up on them and support them as much as you can?
Parents, you honestly need to put more effort in supporting your sons. We have for long assumed male children are ‘hard’ or should be ‘hard’ and should be left to work their way through. These boys need your hand if you want to raise a man.
Everywhere ladies are dating overly aged men and the ‘reason’ they give is, “wanaume waliisha imebaki wazee” (there are no responsible young men available anymore, only old men). This shows there has been a change in how boys are being prepared to be men by either the parents or society.
Men who are supposed to be suitable for them are engraved in drugs to fight frustrations.
If we really want out daughters to have good men in their lives when their time comes, this is the right time to sow that seed, take care of it after germination until it’s time to harvest.
We really need to come together and empower our boys and men. They feel, and I believe, they have been left out.
A boychild is also a child who needs support, mentorship and empowerment.
~How do you feel about the boys and men we’re having in our society?
~Do you think they are being mentored/supported as they should?
~Do you think they have equal opportunities with the girlchild?
~What do you think should be done?
