THE NEW WAVE.

Goodmorning Earthlings? Rise and shine to a new day when space tourism just got a boost when Jeff Bezos flew to space and back in an autonomous rocket- his autonomous rocket codenamed New Shepard yesterday. What a world to be in right now!!However, cool as it may be, that is not today’s topic but we will definitely talk about autonomous machines, you know, the kind that can wipe off a town on their own accord.

I’m not going to start on this one by telling you how crazy (but not far-fetched) this is; cause you just did. It’s by far the baddest  technology for our brothers in the forces. Kill ratios of insurmountable quotas to any other weapons aside from UAVS of course, diversity and success rates of nearly 97% ; you don’t want to mess with forces with these kind of weapons. Just ask Azerbaijan.

They had a little hide and seek game with Armenia a little over a year ago but the world wasn’t paying attention. We were all fixated on Covid-19, another ploy skillfully weaved to steal from the common man, change world politics, profit pharmaceuticals and bring about a world order of sorts in the grand scheme of things. I just can’t figure out yet who orchestrated the whole thing.

Now, Arzebaijan had a confrontation with Armenia about a border on a disputed region known as Narghono Karabakh. Mind you, the conflict has been around for ages. Both countries claim the land to be theirs which sparked a war that ended badly for Arzebaijan. As usual, our Soviet boys went there to meddle with none of their goddamn business and it was later claimed they helped bring an end to the violence- nobody buys that. In any case, Russia is known to be a bad boy who is always sniffing for war, testing the waters.

Armenia had a little trick up their cannons. I’m sure you have heard or even seen UAVs commonly known as drones. Military drones are used to fire at enemy targets autonomously but with a drone pilot behind a desk somewhere far from where the drone is and they do so from miles above and with extreme accuracy. Now I want you to imagine something that almost looks and works like a drone only its more badass than a drone with hours-long surveillance capabilities, autonomous flying and worst of all, it doesn’t fire at the target, it drops on it and explodes. We are calling them AI-Armed drones. It’s a drone that once released from a Multiple Launch Rocket Truck, flies on it’s own and can linger around for hours end on it’s target and without a drone-pilot feeding it commands until the enemy shows up at which point it flies into the enemy and explodes. Like I said, you don’t want to be in their line of fire because patience is a skill they are built for. That’s  how Arzebaijan  got beat at their own game .They had only AI-Armed UAV as they are referred to while Armenia had ordered about 200 of such from Israel. Only 200 and they of course didn’t fire all of them, say 100 and Arzeibaijan gave out its territory to Armenia. Just imagine what wrath they must have unleashed. And by the way, they have already earned themselves the name Kamikaze Drones, obviously because they go down with the enemy.

AI-Powered UAV

Still, the AI-Armed Drones is only one of over 100 other different kinds of autonomous weapons. Have you heard of the Laser Weapon System? Or the robo-sniper from our Israeli friends? This is the real Hollywood Men In Black type of stuff, only the USA and Israel are already testing their lasers on the field. Russia, you owe us another one; why don’t you steal the show again like you always do? Or are the Chinese feeling up-to it?

All I’m saying is, autonomous weapons are some AI powered type of military grade weapons and if drones haven’t shown you how bad UAVs can be then Afghanistan clearly hasn’t taught you enough. Take another class, you might overhear words like collateral damage which is why Taliban, ISIS, Al Qaeda and a bunch of other terrorists never seem to back down despite huge fatalities. These folks  have lost a lot of relatives and acquaintances as ‘collateral damage’ in the American drone-age. Tell me how crazy an autonomous  military grade drone will be. And I haven’t even mentioned the privacy violations or the fact that you can’t point a finger to the responsible parties incase of an attack since the AI powered drones technically have a ‘brain’ of their own. That is why they are called autonomous weapons- they act on their own. Incase one hits you accidentally and you survive, you are going to have to sue the already exploded drone. How’s that for messed up?

The good news is people are always watching and there are activists already championing for rules and regulations against these Level 1 security threat robots. We’ve seen how late laying of policy frameworks for new technology can cause snap fines and taxes for social media giants when a little lobbying is done. The world cannot test that with policy framework for autonomous weapons. That would be tantamount to going to a war with no amour at all; unfortunately for this case, it’s not an example but the reality of what we are about to do. Autonomous weapons versus us. This is how robots will colonize us, seriously speaking. Do you copy? Over and Out.
