
N.Q Herrick and Maccoby came up with four basic principles on the quality of work life otherwise known as Humanisation of Work.The following are the Principles of Quality of Work Life:

1.Principle of Security
Quality of WorkLife cannot be improved until employees are relieved of the anxiety,fear and future loss of employment.
Working conditions must be safe and fear of economic want should be eliminated.Job security and safety against occupational hazards is an essential precondition of Humanisation of work.
2.Principle of equity
There should be a direct and positive relation between effort and reward.All types of discrimination between people doing similar work and same level of performance must be eliminated.Equity also requires sharing of the profits of the organizations equitably.
3.Principle of individualism
Employee differs in terms,skills,attributes and potentials.Every individual should be provided the opportunity for development potential.Humanization of work requires that employees decide their own place of activities and design of work operations.
4.Principle of Democracy
This principle calls upon greater responsibility and authority among employees.Meaning participation in decision-making processes improve the Quality of Work Life and as such should be embraced.
