When the president made it apparent that he pursued a handshake to make peace and make sure Kenya moves ahead, it was received differently. Many thought, at last, Kenya was heading somewhere but as things are, there was more than met the eye.
During the handshake, what caught my eyes was the absence of the DP and the NASA co-principals(musalia, kalonzo, wetangula). They were not invited and what many wondered was why they were kept out of the ‘peace’ consensus.
Are they not part of the pact? Was it really about peace or political deception by Raila or a move to bring Raila to us? Maybe.
These two political heavyweights made very powerful announcements to promote their course;
“We have come to a mutual awareness. An understanding that this country Kenya is greater than any one individual, “Uhuru Kenyatta.
” In the life of any nation, a time comes when people and their leaders must audit the progress made towards the attainment of the goals and prayers laid out at the founding of the nation, “Raila Odinga.
After the handshake, what we saw was scandal after scandal with no one to challenge the government. To be candid, I felt ‘cheated’ when the handshake took place, it was like the Kenya defense forces agreeing to work together with our enemies, the Al Shabab. Raila Odinga was a very vital person to the citizens of this country because he insulated us, he kept the government on its toes. After the ‘wedding’, the corrupt Uhuru unexpectedly turned out to be a lovely ‘husband’ with no flaws. What magic!
After the handshake, another monster in the name of BBI was launched. There was war declared to anyone who sided with the DP or was against the handshake. It started with a motion to ouster Moses Wetangula from the Senate minority leader’s role, Mike Sonko woes, the exiling of Miguna, Dp Ruto’s obligations being taken by super ministers, Raila(an outsider in government) representing the administration and overseeing government projects.
Is what we are witnessing today the real intended purpose of the handshake? BBI? Endorsement of Raila Odinga? Aren’t they the ones who bring chaos to this country? This was a political set, and it has been on play ever since. There was nothing for Kenyans as they made us believe. Our homeland has advanced from bad to worse, that’s the ‘audit of progress’.
