Calling All Young Kenyans: Your Opportunity to Become a Game Ranger Awaits!


Are you a young Kenyan with a passion for wildlife and a desire to serve your community? The Narok County Public Service Board has announced an exciting recruitment drive for 150 Game Rangers. This is a unique chance to embark on a permanent and pensionable career protecting our nation’s rich biodiversity.

The recruitment exercise is scheduled to take place from September 8th to September 18th, 2025, across various sub-counties in Narok.

Are You a Fit? Check the Requirements:
To be considered for this vital role, you must meet a specific set of minimum requirements. The Narok County Public Service Board is looking for candidates who are:

Kenyan citizens with a valid National Identity Card.

Between 18 and 28 years of age.

Physically and mentally fit, with good hearing and clear vision.

At least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet 2 inches tall for women.

Computer literate.

Free of any criminal record and in possession of a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.

Hold a minimum of a KCSE Grade D- (Minus).

Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during the initial training.

Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

What Does a Game Ranger Do?
Successful candidates will be tasked with a wide range of important duties, including:

Maintaining the security of wildlife and preventing poaching.

Safeguarding tourists and performing parade duties.

Investigating wildlife-related crimes and preserving crime scenes.

Collecting intelligence and interrogating suspects.

Undertaking patrols, sentry duties, and participating in rescue operations.

Tracking and recovering illegal wildlife products.

Compiling environmental and conservation crime statistics.

Selected individuals will undergo a paramilitary training course lasting at least six months, sponsored by the Narok County Government. The salary scale for this position (Job Grade: CPSB 13, JG ‘F’) starts at Ksh 19,220 per month.

You’ll also need to detail your academic qualifications, any relevant professional qualifications, and employment history. The form also asks if you have ever been convicted of a criminal offense or dismissed from employment. Finally, you will need to provide two professional referees.
