The simple definition of a failed state is a political body that has disintegrated to a point where basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government no longer function properly.
Now Sri Lanka is treading on a very tight rope that may only lead to a failed state if dire measures are not taken ASAP.Skyrocketing prices of food and household essentials have led the people of Sri Lanka to stage massive protests for a record 15 months.
Last week, they managed to storm into the presidential palace to find their president Mr. Rajapaksa.Luckily for the president, he had fled to the Maldives together with his family otherwise he would have faced the full wrath of the public.

The protesters managed to bypass the police barricade and storm into the palace occupying it and several other public buildings in Sri Lanka.

The angry mob then demanded for the immediate resignation of the president who has since then resigned today as confirmed by the Speaker of the assembly in Sri Lanka. At the time of his resignation,Mr Rajapaksa was in Singapore.
Now, Sri Lankans have been asked to wait for the transition to a new president with the Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremesingh being sworn is as the acting president for now.
All the Sri Lankans want now is fast tracking of the transition so that inflation which stands at a record 60% can be dealt with soonest possible. All the best y’all.
